T-103 - 3 Marks of Excellence
By far the hardest Tier 8 TD challenge in my career. Considered as a masochist's toy. The T-103 demands immense amount of patience and discipline from players to relocate when in dangerous situations and help allies by scouting or by pushing together with HTs. The T-103 is very slow and sluggish. Turret traverse speed, acceleration and forwards & backwards speed takes ages to work. To complement it's weaknesses, the T-103 also has nearly zero armour on the hull, unreliable turret armour and one of the largest silhouettes in the game on par with M6A2E1. Side-scraping techniques always fail and relies greatly on hull down positions to utilise it's -8 degrees of gun depression and fully traversable turret to slowly work out the enemies. Being a large TD comes with great advantages, it can unexpectedly shoot over tall rocks and buildings and scout enemies hiding in smaller bushes. Fortunately, the T-103 is one of the best defensive passive scouting TDs in the game by having a small spotting cupola on the tall turret and having an insane 481m of view range with the standard equipment layout. However, the T-103 has absolutely terrible camouflage as comparable to some HTs in the game. This means passive scouting greatly depends on the situation. TDs with terrible camouflage and a large silhouette causes many problems on choosing a good location to hide. The gun has above average DPM (Damage Per Minute) and shoots only AP and HE. The gun has high damage per shot and a decently fast reload time. Both AP shells have poor shell velocity and has a high tendency of falling to the ground, so sniping from far distances is not an option for the T-103. Accuracy is below average, some shots have the potential to miss the enemy from 200m away. Snap shots are almost a guaranteed miss and the gun needs to be fully aimed to hit the enemy properly. To use the T-103 to it's maximum use, it must always think 3 steps ahead. The biggest question is whether it needs to flank enemies, hide from incoming fire, join the brawl or push forward. Another frequent question is whether to stay in the open field to flank and snipe or stay in the city to help out the HTs. The T-103 should maintain the second and third line of defense as long as possible. To sum up, the T-103 is not recommended for an average TD or HT player and is reserved for seasoned all rounded players and veterans.
